Island Treehouse

A unique site, comprised of three separate parcels, was thought too challenging to develop. Irregular marsh edge setback lines further complicated the potential buildable area. The solution is based on an analogy of a young tree in a mature forest: the only growth opportunity is up!
The design is an elevated plan with footprint shaped by the marsh setback lines. Each level has a unique relationship to the property, from ground level outdoor living on up to a rooftop deck with views to the Atlantic Ocean.
Large format windows provide generous natural light and views out through the trees over the marshes beyond.
An elevated cabana with plunge pool, located on one of the out parcels, is hidden within the tree canopy.

Each floor level affords a different
relationship from within the home to
the surrounding property.
From a walk out experience at ground
level to a treetop view from the roof deck,
the home's character is emphasized by
ascending view opportunities.

Tucked away from the main residence is a separate
screened cabana and plunge pool. Set high above the
ground plane, this escape place offers contemplative
views through the trees out over surrounding tidal marshes.
